The present work proves the existence of a closed concept within the educational community of the high academic efficiency students, identifying them only with the quantity aspect related to the marks in different subjects and it brings, in many cases, that students are not motivated because they are classified in this way. This is the importance of giving the right definition.
In the work, we pretend to give, from the theoretical point of view, similar and different aspects related to the concept of academic efficiency given by different authors, as well as its importance with the purpose of emphasize only the high academic efficiency.
El presente trabajo evidencia la existencia de una conceptualización estrecha en la comunidad educativa de lo que son los estudiantes de alto rendimiento académico, identificándolos solo con la parte cuantitativa referida a la nota obtenida en las diferentes asignaturas y esto deviene en muchos casos en desmotivación de los estudiantes por ser clasificados de ese modo, de ahí la importancia de definir adecuadamente el concepto. Es un trabajo que pretende abordar desde el punto de vista teórico, aspectos comunes y diferentes, relativos al concepto: rendimiento académico definidos por diferentes autores, así como, su importancia con el fin de particularizarlo al alto rendimiento académico.
